Purchase price update

When I create and receive a new PO with an updated purchase price, I noticed that the quantity for the received product is updated but not the purchase price.

For example, if I have 2 product "A" with a purchase price of $10 in stock, and I create and receive a new PO for 2 product "A" with a new purchase price of $15, the system will update the stock quantity to 4 units but will keep the purchase price at $10 each unit.

The correct inventory update would be a new stock of 4 products "A" with an average purchase price of $12.50 per unit. Can you fix this in your plugin to avoid this mistake? Otherwise, we have to manually update all purchase prices one by one, on possibly thousands of products. Which is time consuming and open the door to mistakes.

Another thing: if we enter a shipping fee and other fees in the PO, these fees should be factored into the purchase price, to reflect the true "landed cost".

Can you please tell me if you plan on correcting these issues in a future release and the ETA if possible? Thanks

Thanks for you post.

This isn't a bug. Each ATUM user has specific needs that are not necessarily the same as yours. Other people may want the purchase price to stay as is or set the new PO price.

You can set the product's new purchase price from the edit PO screen, as you can read in this article: https://stockmanagementlabs.crunch.help/en/atum-core/creating-a-new-purchase-order.

Setting a specific behaviour (such as calculating an average), as you wish, would involve custom programming on your part.

Thanks for the reply. I understand that people could have different needs, but this is accounting good practices. I don't see why someone who creates a new PO would not want to see the impact of any price change on their inventory value. If the quantity changes when receiving products, the cost price should be adjusted too with the average cost per unit, otherwise the inventory will be off. In that sense, this is a bug.

But I understand that some people would want to see the gross price VS. the landed price of a product. I think your customer would appreciate to give the option to factor in or out the fees in the PO, into the unit price.

I understand your reasoning, but we don't plan to modify this in the mid-term.

This Forum has a 'Suggest a Feature' section. You can add a new thread there suggesting we add these calculations, and if enough people are interested, we'll consider adding them in a future version.
