Meta info added

i can't seem to add meta info in PO's, we have a general SKU we use to add info or product which is "temporary" but the system deletes and doesn't add any info after, how can you fix this?
you do offer the Add/Edit Meta option but it doesn't seem to apply

I've tried to add a custom meta field to a PO through the "Custom Fields" meta box, and it worked for me:

What I did:

Clicked on the "Enter new" button
Entered the meta key name
Entered the meta value
Clicked the "Add custom field" button
Saved the PO.
