Packaging as Variable Product Part and BOM

Hi Guys,

Thanks to your help and great support, I understand how product parts and raw materials work and establishing a BOM accordingly. However, there is one area I am not sure how to set up. When a customer buys a product from our store, we send them the product in a box with a couple of inserts (a thank you card and a plastic sealable bag). However, the box we use is determined not by the product they buy, but how many of them. Also, we only supply one thank you card and one sealable plastic bag per order, regardless of how many items are bought. So if the customer bought one product, we would send this in a small box with one thank you card and one plastic sealable bag. However, if the customer bought two products (they may be the same or different products of course), we would send both products in a medium box, but still only send one thank you card and one sealable plastic bag.

Is there a way to incorporate these scenarios into the BOM and to ensure all our stock is correctly marked down, including the right box and right number of other product parts?

I am to disappoint you unfortunately as this option has not yet been included. We are planning it though as we need it for our business too. I have not got the release date yet, unfortunately (maybe late 2019/ early 2020).

Did you have an idea/suggestion as to how we could record what packaging/extras were despatched with each order?

Each time we send a customer their order, as mentioned at the beginning of this thread, we will also send the customer a welcome card and plastic bag plus send it all in a box. We only send one welcome card and one plastic bag per order, regardless of how many products they order, and the size of the box also depends on how much they have bought. Without using nested BOM, is there a neat way to record what product part/extras were sent with each order so that our stock levels are marked down correctly?

I do not see any way of achieving what you need, unfortunately.
We have plans to include this already within PL, but it may not happen until late this year.

Hello,

This is ever get created for the system? We have the same requirement and run mailers on a call off system with a supplier, automatic reordering via PO would be a huge benefit to us based on order number, also a way of the system calculating which of the 3 size mailers are being used/sent out for stock monitoring?

I'm sorry but this functionality is not available in the current versions.
Anyway, your requirements are very specific. If you need them, I'd kindly suggest you find a developer to assist you as they would require custom coding.
