Inventory Log not changing stock values

I created inventory Log entries for some products. But the log is not editing the stock value at all.
Also the different types of inventory logs should have different effect on the stock. e.g. warehouse damage should reduce the stock level while as customer returns should increase the stock levels. The interface does not clarify what stock level changes will happen with each type of entry. Note that I wish to use this feature to remove stock from inventory without making a sales bill. These are give-away products given to influencers for marketing. Let me know if there is a different way of doing this
