Stock quantity count wrong

Hi,
Recently I started noticing that sometimes with products that have multiple inventories, that quantity is added automatically, inventory quantity that I don't have.

For Example:
A product has the main inventory depleted, eg set to 0
Then you have a second inventory which is set to 8.

Recently for several items the number is copied towards the main inventory line thus counting double.
it's not always an exact copy, I also noticed one article where the number from the secondary inventory was doubled and put into the main.
So if someone in my shop would buy everything, then I need to refund half since it's stock I don't have.

This is not something that was present a few weeks ago but now recently this is noticed more and more.

Any idea what is happening?

Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Did you install any additional third-party plugins recently?
Do you use any third-party plugins that could affect the stock (like connecting to external APIs, ERPs,...)?

Hi José,

I have an external API enable for synchronising with marketplaces, the plugin is called Channable.
All order management is taking place in my woocommerce, so orders from the marketplace are synced to my backend.

But the strange thing is that the wrong quantity is not only on products sold through that API, but also others.
All products are synced over the API to Channable, but not all are available for purchase on the marketplace.

That's why it's so difficult to find a red wire into what is causing this, any idea how it can be troubleshooted to see what is acually adding that non existing stock?

Just went through my inventory again to verify and discovered once again 3 products with non-existing stock.
With 2 products the number seems to be copied from a secondary inventory and placed in the main inventory (but in most cases the main inventory stock quantity is actually empty and a secondary inventory is holding the quantity, purchase and selling price, the main inventory also in some occasions has an old price which is not valid anymore).

With the 3rd product the quantity in the main inventory was 12 instead of 11 on the secondary inventory.
This means it's getting the number from somewhere else.

None of the 3 products had a sale between when last checked and today, so it's completely unclear what and especially why it's changing.

Some assistance would be greatly appreciated since currently I cannot trust the stock anymore since magically stock gets added to random products.

What you say makes sense.

We use the WooCommerce _stock metadata field to store the Main Inventory stock, and third-party plugins (or API connections) access this field if they aren't coded to be compatible with Multi-Inventory.

The only way to know if Cahnnable is causing the is by disabling it and checking if problems disappear. If so, you'll have to decide whether to stop using one of the two plugins (Channable or ATUM Multi-Inventory) or hire a developer to make them compatible if possible.

That doesn't explain why products which haven't been sold are getting updated.
I could have followed your way of thinking if that was the case, but I've got products that were not sold the last days but still the quantity was changed so something is causing this.

Is there any way to detect what could have changed this value to identify if this was ATUM or not?

I have discovered the issue on one product that I modified earlier, I removed the sale price and removed a tag.
I saved the item and needed to revisit the translations (3 languages), I use WPML for the translations.

The product has the main inventory, where the quantity is 0
It has a second inventory which is 11

I noticed a while after that the main inventory jumped from 0 to 22.

there must be a bug somewhere that is triggering this but I don't have any idea how to check what is changing these values.

I'm sorry. Again, we don't support third-party plugins except these. If you can reproduce your issue without having the Channable plugin action, please tell us and we'll help you (simply open a private ticket here) fix the issue.

However, if the problem is an incompatibility between ATUM MI, Channable and WPML, I can't help you. You should find a good developer to help you. We can't support the huge amount of existing plugins. I hope you understand.
