Restock Status, Days to Re-Order and Supplier Lead Time

Hi,

I'm interested in using your plugin but I'm trying to understand the relationship between the restock status indicators in the Stock Central area and then the Days to Re-Order setting and the Supplier Lead Time that can be set for each supplier. Do all of these factors/values combine to set a products restock status? You quote your formula as 'The average sales per day for the last week * Days to reorder' but this doesn't indicate it takes into account the Supplier Lead Time. Hope you can clarify this for me!

Thanks for your post.

The Supplier Lead Time is used only for information purposes in ATUM Free. It's used in Purchase Orders Pro to calculate the Recommended Order Quantity.

That's good to know, yes we are going to buy the Purchase Orders Pro add-on. Thank you for the link to the formula but it doesn't mention Supplier Lead Time in the formula. Is it reasonable to say that when using the Purchase Orders Pro add-on the formula changes to: "The average sales per day for the last week * Supplier Lead Time" for each product?

Why should the restock formula include the Supplier Lead? I said we don't use it in the formula.

You can read how we use it on Purchase Orders Pro here (the ROQ Formula).

The duration used to calculate the sales can't be changed. I'm sorry. However, you can change it with custom coding.

Also could you please confirm if the average sales duration used in the restock formula can be changed? 7 days is far to short a duration to be useful for our business. It would be preferable to extend this to 4,8 or even 12 weeks.

Apologies I thought if the Purchase Order pro add on provides the functionality to 'Recommend an Order Quantity' this would logically tie in with the concept of restocking a product? How is the 'Recommended Order Quantity' calculated then? Is it based on average product sales and the Supplier Lead time?

Regarding changing the custom coding required to amend the duration used for sales - is this a filter hook? Is there developer documentation available on how to do this?

No. I'm sorry. Purchase Orders Pro doesn't affect Stock Central views.

Did you read the two posts I linked to? Both formulas are explained there.

And no, we don't provide developer docs. I'm sorry. Our support also does not include custom coding.

All our plugins are well-documented within the code, and all our hooks have self-descriptive names. And of course, we are open to adding new hooks if asked for and consider them necessary.

Thank you for explaining in detail, I appreciate your help. I think the fact the plugin only uses 7 days worth of product sales data for these formulas is a real sticking point. It's such a narrow window when sales of products in certain businesses can fluctuate significantly so a broader timeframe would be much more appropriate in this instances. Is there any plans to provide the ability to change the 7 days value? Maybe I'm being slightly naive but it doesn't feel like something that would be to difficult to implement. If you're simply taking a quantity of sales over a specific period of time and feeding that value into a formula wouldn't this be easy enough to provide options for 7, 14, 30, 60 days?

However, this could be achieved by custom development if you need it.
