I have products that are either sold individually, or as part of a set. The stock we keep for being sold as part of a set should not be sold individually as this will result in us having incomplete set ups that we then can not sell. Can I use multi-inventory in such a way as to assign some of the stock of the components to be sold only as part of a product bundle while allowing the rest to be sold? Example, we sell telescope mounts with a set of weights to balance. them. However we also sell the weights separately as accessories. Let us say I have 5 telescope mounts in stock, 7 weights in stock. I should not be able to sell more than 2 weights alone, the remaining 5 should be reserved for sale with the telescope mount. Right now we do not list the subcomponents in the inventory. We put it as one part number and then we put stickers on the box so we don't accidentally sell the parts that should be part of a set.
Another scenario is some products we sell get shipped as 2 boxes. So box 1 of 2 and box 2 of 2. I have no idea how to document these in multi inventory so during stock take we do not make mistakes.
