Tea-Shop: Weight based stock control on variables product setup

Hello,

my aim is to define a product, which I buy from a supplier with a fixed weight and price per Unit.
Eg. 1 x 0,5 kg for 50 USD (Net)
When creating a PO, This setup should be used.

Now, if I want to create variables from this product, like 2 x 100g, 1 x 250g the stock count will not match anymore reasonably.

Is there another way of setting this up?

I forgot to mention, that I'll refill the purchased product into smaller packages, which are the variables. 🙂

Thank you very much for this question.

I am just assuming that you are willing to go premium as the product you buy is a raw material in this case that you repack into variations.

The free version of ATUM or Woocommerce for that matter can not handle such setup unless you do it manually.

If you had Product Levels premium addon, you would set up the tea bulk as a raw material. Mind you, I recommend you start treating all your stock values as grams.
Then in your variable product, you'd create as many different variations as you like. Each variation you associated with the raw material according to the portion you need to use. For example: if you sell 100g of Tea and your raw material stock is calculated in grams, then you simply associate 100 for every one variation sold. That way when 1 product is sold your stock will reduce by 100.

The same you do with other variations - one stock of raw will deduct according to your sales.

Hello,

I'm struggling with the setup of the RAW material.

My process is intended to be like this, I order from my supplier 1 stock unit with 500g.
This 500g should be kind of converted to 500 stock units.
Then I want to have variables with 50, 100, and 250 units, which with every purchase have to decrease the available stock units.

Is this somehow possible to achieve with ATUM?

My supplier doesn't sell 1g units. 🙂
Would look strange if I order 5000 units.

The problem here is, if I treat the stock quantaty in gram it works on my end.
If I now order 1 pack of 500 gram from my supplier, on the PO it says amount 500 instead of just 1.
And if I need 5.000 gram I would order 10 packs. So 10 is the number my supplier should see and not 5.000.

That is confusing to my supplier.

At the moment I only can think of the following approach.

Product A - raw-material = 1 unit (this is what I purchase from supplier)

Product B - variable raw-material = 500 units
with Product A = 1 unit as BOM

Product C - variable = 50, 100, 500
with Product B = 50 unit as BOM
with Product B = 100 unit as BOM
with Product B = 500 unit as BOM

Doing it this way, will cause more products needed to be created for the calculation.

I think there must a userfriendly solution to this.
There should be an option to define a sub unit count to use in situations like mine which happens on regular base to others for sure.

We are setting up a bulk store, with items being sold by weight. For instance, we would take stock of 1000kg of a product, and want to sell in units of 250g, 500g, 1k, 5kg and 10kg. Then deduct the weight purchased from the stock held. Is this possible with ATUM?

As I told you, you can achieve what you want with ATUM Product Levels.

We'll release in the future a Unit of Measures addon that will allow converting measures when linking BOMs, but you can already use the plugin now "as is".
