I am using both Product Levels and Multi-Inventory. I'm a big fan of BOM stock control and use it a lot. I also have some nested BOMs. An example that illustrates my typical setup...
Product A has a BOM of 3 materials including Material B
Material B has a BOM of 10 materials
I commonly create Product A on demand though I may occasionally produce a few units in advance
However, Material B takes some time to assemble and I like to keep it on hand. The materials used to create Material B are used by other products so I definitely want to keep BOM stock control enabled. Without a Manufacturing Order feature, how can I accomplish easy inventory management without manually adjusting all my material inventories each time I need to make Material B?
- Inventory Logs? No I tried to create inventory logs on the demo site, but the associated BOM materials are not deducted.
- Creating an Order? Yes? I can create an order for a manually created Manufacturing user for the desired amount of material B. Of course that means I'll need to change Material B to sellable (being sure to keep the product private). Next I'll add the ordered amount manually to my on-hand inventory for Material B and whenever I need to know my sales for the month or the year, I'll be sure to subtract all sales to Manufacturing User.
Are there any other options? Does this seem like a reasonable option?
Thanks (and hoping you'll eventually be able to incorporate this feature).
