Hide products with inbound stock from Out of Stock tab in Stock Central

Apologies if there's already a way to achieve this but I did a search and couldn't find anything.

Is there a way to hide products from appearing in the Stock Central > Out of Stock table view if they have already been added to a purchase order?

We use variable products and it can be very cumbersome scrolling through 100 out of stock products trying to find the oens that need to be added to a PO. If there was a checkbox or other means to hide products which already have inbound stock it would be much easier to see what needs our attention.

When you change the PO status to received, all the items within the PO are added to the products' stocks and if those products are "in stock" won't be displayed in the "out of stock" view. So the only way to not appear there is if they really have stock.

And FYI, we are currently working on a new premium add-on (Purchase Orders Premium) with which you will be able to add products to a PO from SC and much more.

It goes without saying that products that are in stock shouldn't appear in the Out of Stock view.

How can we view only the products that are Out of Stock and have 0 Inbound stock?

Let me rephrase:
The products that have inbound stock mean that are coming and you don't have them yet, so technically, they are not in stock until you change the status of their POs to "received".

If you need any other behaviour for your specific case, perhaps that would need custom development.

If a user is using the Stock Central > Out of Stock view as a means to see what needs to be added to a Purchase Order, they have to scroll and check every single item that is Out of Stock to try and find which products don't have Inbound Stock so that they can add these items to a purchase order. There should be a checkbox/dropdown/filter (or even a "Sort by" Inbound Stock column so that those with 0 are shown at the top of the table) of some sort which temporarily hides the products that have Inbound Stock greater than 0.

Imagine the following scenario:

I have 1000 products.
200 are Out of Stock.
195 of these have been added to Purchase Orders (Inbound stock > 0).
I now have no way of finding out which 5 products are not in a Purchase Order (Inbound stock = 0) other than by manually reviewing all 200 rows in the Out of Stock table.

This can be solved by:

A filter that only shows products with Inbound Stock = 0.

I hope that clarifies the issue but I will try to explain in greater detail if necessary.

I'm not sure if you noticed that you can sort the products by any of the columns clicking on the column headers (ascending or descending). So you can sort the "out of stock" products by the Inbound Stock column and all those with 0 stock should show at the top 😉

When I click the Inbound Stock heading it has always sorted in a (seemingly) random order. I assumed it just didn't work for Variable products but maybe it's a bug? See screenshots:

Hi @Salva ,

Just wanted to follow up on this, we've been using your suggestion to sort by Inbound Stock which has worked well with the exception of one caveat:

Take a Variable product with 2 variations (both out of stock) where:
- 1 variation has 10 inbound stock
- 1 variation has 0 inbound stock

Sorting by Inbound Stock will place this product down the list, effectively hiding the variation with 0 inbound stock. This means that a user still needs to manually scroll through the entire list to find any products that may have some variations with 0 inbound stock.

It's not the end of the world, but it's also something that could be fixed with a filter such as the one descriped in my original post.

Would love to hear your thoughts on this.

I apologize for any inconvenience caused. I've just tested the scenario you tell us and effectively one of the variation disappears. We have some users that have reported the same issue and we are investigating in order to have it fixed for next release.

Was a fix for this part of this week's release?

There's an issue for varianable products where it has a variant which is Out of Stock and another that is Low Stock, the sort by Inbound Stock seems to account for the variant from the other status when sorting.

Product A
Variant A - Out of Stock (1 inbound stock)
Variant B - Low Stock (0 Inbound stock) [This will be sorted as though it has 1 inbound stock]
