Just wanted to follow up on this, we've been using your suggestion to sort by Inbound Stock which has worked well with the exception of one caveat:
Take a Variable product with 2 variations (both out of stock) where:
- 1 variation has 10 inbound stock
- 1 variation has 0 inbound stock
Sorting by Inbound Stock will place this product down the list, effectively hiding the variation with 0 inbound stock. This means that a user still needs to manually scroll through the entire list to find any products that may have some variations with 0 inbound stock.
It's not the end of the world, but it's also something that could be fixed with a filter such as the one descriped in my original post.
