That's not actually possible. We have this on our road map and will be included within the Purchase Orders PRO add-on (when released).

I know this post is quite old but I came back here from another user having this same doubt and referencing this post and wanted to clarify that isn't possible to add multiple suppliers to a product in the ATUM free plugin but if you use our Multi-Inventory add-on, you can create as many inventories as wanted per product and assign a distinct supplier to each of them 😉

I do also need to configure multiple suppliers for one products.
We have only one inventory, but several suppliers for one product.

In future we might also have several inventories, but also in this case, we will need to be able to configure several suppliers for one inventory.

Usecase:
We have a warehouse in Perth, WA, and several suppliers for one product. Tracking this information is extremely important, as the wholesalers have different prices and occasionally we need to know where to order if one supplier is out of stock.

In future we will open another warehouse at the east coast of Australia.

We would then have a second inventory, but again need to be able to configure multiple suppliers for the same item (for the same reasons as above)

This is essential requirement for a retailer. So I hope that you can add this functionality to your plugin.

Do you know a workaround for this which we can do / implement meanwhile?
Some php code which simply adds only another "supplier field" to the inventory section would already be extremely helpful. We could then simply add as many field as we like ...
A code sample for adding also prices and SKU fields would also be appreciated, but is less urgent.

As I said in my last comment, It's actually possible to create multiple inventories and assigning distinct suppliers to each one with our Multi-Inventory add-on 😉

Instead of adding multiple suppliers to one inventory, you can create multiple inventories for the same warehouse (one per supplier).

Adding multiple suppliers to the same product without using Multi-Inventory isn't possible and we don't plan to support that in the short time

I hope there is a solution for this in the future.
We have several suppliers of some products. We want to purchase it from the cheapest supplier when possible. If they are sold out however, it would be nice to have in the system who an additional supplier is. We'd like to have multiple suppliers per store item. I checked out the multi-inventory add-on, but that really didn't fit this need. I'm not wanting to create mutliple inventories within our one location. I just want to see who the optional suppliers of product X are.

I'm sorry but I don't understand why Multi-Inventory cannot help you to achieve what you want. You are saying that you only have 1 location but the inventories created by our add-on do not necessarily need to be "locations". You can think of them as separated "virtual containers" but all of them can be in the same location (there is no restriction of that kind). So you can have one inventory per supplier and you can track the number of items that you bought from each of them and the purchase price for each lot (also having distinct inventories for the same supplier if you bought at distinct prices).
Perhaps it isn't possible to automatically create a PO from the cheapest supplier (based on previous purchase prices) but this is something that you could do with some custom coding (if you really need it). But, definitively, you can do so manually by adding the right inventory to the PO (or creating a new one).

Yes- old thread -- with multiple answers - but no confirmation of whether any of them have actually been done, nor how.

All I want is multiple suppliers in ONE product entry. That is, I edit a product and be able to enter multiple suppliers for it. If internally, you think that is "multi-inventory", I don't care.

At this stage in our company, we just need to know which hardware supplier has left-handed monkey wrenches listed for sale. With the supply chain issues worldwide, Trying to find something, somewhere to refill the ONE box that has a pile of parts in it is all we need. We're not likely going to use POs, and we certainly don't need the hassle multi-inventory is likely to be.
That's it.
